Mobile view tester: see any website on a phone screen
Enter a site address and choose a phone. The page opens inside a phone frame with that device's real screen size and a mobile browser bar, so responsive layouts switch exactly as they would on the phone.
Your site will appear here
The extension does this much better
The online tool is a quick look. The Chrome extension does the same job inside your own browser, without the limits of a frame: any site opens, with a real mobile user agent and screen parameters.
Online tool vs. extension
What changes when the same preview runs inside your browser.
| Online tool | Extension | |
|---|---|---|
| Sites that forbid embedding | Not shown, we explain why | Open normally |
| Mobile user agent | Your desktop browser's, only the width changes | Real mobile user agent |
| Pixel ratio and touch | Screen size only | Size, pixel ratio and touch points emulated |
| localhost and plain http | Not available | Work |
| Logins and cookies | Often limited inside a frame | Behave like in a normal tab |
| Two devices and screenshots | No | Two devices side by side, one-click screenshots |
Why a site can look different here
- The frame runs in your desktop browser. Layouts that adapt to screen width behave exactly like on the device, but sites that choose a mobile version on the server may show their desktop version.
- Some sites forbid being embedded. We detect that and explain it instead of showing an empty frame.
- Logins, cookie banners and embedded widgets can behave differently, because browsers restrict cookies and storage inside frames.
- There is no touch input or real phone performance. Confirm important flows on a real device.
- Pages on localhost, behind a login or on plain http need the Mobile View Extension.
